Breast reduction

Also known as reduction mammaplasty, the breast reduction removes the excess of fat, the glandular tissue and skin to reach the proportional breast size to your body and relieve discomfort caused by large breasts.

Excessively large breasts may cause in some women, emotional and health problems. The weight of the excess of breast tissue can impair the capacity to lead an active life. Emotional discomfort and self-knowledge, often associated with large, sagging breasts, is a problem for many women as most times they cause discomfort and pain.

Breast reduction surgery is an individual procedure and should be done for yourself, never in order to satisfy someone else or to try to fit in any kind of ideal image.

Mastopexy without Prosthesis

Commonly known as breast lift surgery, mastopexy repositions the areola and breast tissue, removing excess of skin and compressing the tissue to form the new breast contour.

A woman’s breasts often change over time, losing their youthful and firmness shape. These changes and loss of skin elasticity can occur due to pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight fluctuations, aging, gravity and heredity.

Sometimes the areola becomes enlarged over time, and a mastopexy can reduce it. The procedure may have a rejuvenating character, as we reach in the postoperative period a young and firm breast look.

The surgery doesn’t significantly change the size of the breasts or fill the upper part of the breast (cervix). If you want to have more voluminous breasts or with a projected cervix, you should consider the association with silicone implants (Mastopexy with prosthesis). If you want smaller breasts, you should consider doing both, the breast lift and the surgery reduction.

Explant

Many women nowadays have chosen to have their implants removed.

We understand why: aging or lifestyle changes affect the way the whole body evolves over the time.

Contrary to what many believe, the silicone implants will never stop being a foreign body to the body and even though they are seen as lifelong, someday people may need to go through a surgery again to change it, and it is understandable that in another stage of life the woman may decide not to have implants.

On the other hand, some patients can have their implants placed in an untimely and unsuccessful way, so they may go through some complications and no longer wanted them.

How is the explant surgery?

In most cases it is possible to use the old scar to remove the implant and capsule.

If the breasts are large and sagging, or the tissues are loose, it is recommended to perform a tissue removal from the underside or a Mastopexy, mainly to relocate the position of the nipple in the chest.

Fat grafting is a technique used as an excellent option for breast remodeling and its indication should be discussed in consultation according to each case.

The fat is removed from the legs, flanks or culottes, processed and replaced in the breast regions with a greater need of valorization and correction.

We also perform in this case the internal bra to position the breast in their best place.

Breast reduction in men

Also known as gynecomastia, breast reduction for men is the surgical correction of overdeveloped or large mammary glands.

Gynecomastia is a common condition in men at any age, and can be the result of hormonal changes, heredity, illness, or the use of certain medications. Gynecomastia can cause emotional discomfort and impair self-confidence. Some men start to avoid certain physical activities and intimacy just to hide their condition.

The gynecomastia is characterized by the excess of local fat, excess of glandular tissue development, a combination of both: excess of adipose and glandular tissue. It can occur unilaterally or bilaterally.

The operative technique is Indicated individually according to the alteration of the breast tissue of each patient, it may be a liposuction, the removal of the gland through a small incision on the edge of the areola or skin resections.
